CANUK is proud to say that the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the person of the NATIONAL PLANNING COMMISSION has invited the entire CANUK membership to have an active voice and to participate in the working up of the NIGERIA VISION 2020.

The CANUK Executive Committee unanimously voted to accept the invitation and that Dr Mark Abani, your chairman, joins the NATIONAL STEERING COMMITTEE ON NIGERIA VISION 2020, with Ms Alache Ode as alternate member’. The Steering Committee was inaugurated on Monday 21 April 2008 in Abuja and held its first meeting shortly after.  There are at present five initial subcommittees and a number of thematic areas.  Here in CANUK we will keep you up to date on what is happening as it affects you and we will be planning events; workshops (with NIDO UK South) and other opportunities for to you participate, have your voice heard and contribute your expertise to the relevant Technical Committees both here and in Nigeria.

Below are the terms of reference of the Steering Committee and the current membership.

                                        TERMS OF REFERENCE 

1)            The National Steering Committee is established by the National Council.

2)            The National Steering Committee is responsible for;

           i.           Developing the V2020 Implementation Guidelines

           ii.           Developing the Monitoring and Evaluation Strategy

3)            The Vision Document development process is a bottom-up approach by which all MDAs, states and local governments etc are encouraged and assisted to prepare and implement their component of V2020 in line with national priorities 

4)            The National Steering Committee will develop a template for preparing the V2020 strategic plan and annual communication on progress.

5)            The National Steering Committee will collate 4) above to prepare the annual performance report for the National Council
